Welcome to Dementia Tech Care Consulting. In a nutshell, the below will explain how I started this and why.

My expertise lies in caring for my elderly mother, who has dementia, from halfway across the world for over four years. She lives in the UK whilst I worked in the USA. My experience specifically involves managing care from a distance, be it down the street or another country.

I can consult with you and advise on how to put measures in place to help keep your loved one safe, and to provide you with peace of mind, no matter where you are. I will advise on the steps to take to ensure that your loved one receives what they are entitled to (example, attendance allowance if at home). If your situation involves different logistics or regions that I am not familiar with, I will be honest about my limitations and let you know if I am unable to assist you.

When I began this journey, I quickly realised that there were no resources or support systems to assist me in caring for a loved one from afar, whether they were in another city or halfway across the world. Everyone around me insisted that the only solution was to give up my career and move back home full-time to care for my mother. But that was not an option. I realised that they knew no better. I had other ideas.

Despite the lack of resources available for long-distance caregiving, and those of you that have tried this know this all too well, I have managed to keep her safe, independent and healthy through diligent research, planning and creative problem-solving. In my search for help in caring from afar, I found none. I found a lot of people that needed help with caring from afar but no resources TO help. Which is why I created this website and am offering my advise. It is designed to support those who, like me, are trying to care for their loved ones from a distance.

As an experienced long-distance caregiver, I've developed innovative strategies using technology and different gadgets to ensure the safety and well-being of those that live afar, particularly those dealing with dementia and age-related challenges. Whilst I'm not a medical professional, my extensive hands-on experience has equipped me with valuable insights into elderly care, especially from afar. I've navigated the complex world of remote caregiving, utilizing cutting-edge tech solutions to bridge the distance and provide effective support for seniors.

My journey has given me a unique perspective on balancing the demands of long-distance care with the specific needs of those experiencing cognitive decline. I'm passionate about sharing my knowledge to help others in similar situations, empowering families to provide the best possible care for their elderly loved ones, regardless of geographical barriers.

You are not alone in this struggle, and it is possible to manage long-distance caregiving effectively. Do not let naysayers, who have never experienced this challenge, discourage you. You must do what feels right for you. The emotional turmoil that we deal with is indescribable and can only be understood by those who have gone or are going through it.

There are resources and technologies available that can help you care for and check in on your loved one from afar. It can be frustrating, and there will be challenges, but it is doable. You don't need to be a technical guru. I'm not. If you can turn on your phone, you're 95% there!

When it works, it provides invaluable peace of mind. This is my main objective, to provide the support and information you need to navigate this journey successfully.

NOTE: I do not provide medical advice as I am not a medical professional.
